The SFBA's mission is protecting and enhancing recreational access to San Francisco Bay
A notice to all Sailors that Sail GP is racing this weekend and that means foiling catamarans going 40 knots will make the Crissy Field sailing area particularly dangerous.
To keep everyone safe the US Coast Guard is monitoring a sailing zone that we need to all stay way clear of. Please see below for details.
This year’s Sail Grand Prix racing activities will be held May 5th through May 7th. To ensure the safety of participants and spectators on San Francisco Bay, the U.S. Coast Guard has established a Special Local Regulation, published in the Federal Register, and advertised by Local Notice to Mariners and Special Marine Information Broadcast. Coast Guard and other law enforcement vessels will be patrolling the regulated area to ensure all Sail Grand Prix Events are conducted safely.
LIMITED ACCESS DURING RACE ACTIVITIES
The Special Local Regulation which is depicted on the chart below will be enforced during the dates and times noted. The chart depicts the boundaries and coordinates of the Special Local Regulation during the official Practice and Race Days. Traffic Spectators shall not enter the official Practice or Race Areas unless authorized to do so by Sail Grand
Prix Course Marshalls. Temporary buoys for the Practice and Official Race Box will be installed by Sail Grand Prix Course Marshalls before 12:00 p.m. and will be removed after 5:30 p.m. each day. Special Local Regulation for Sail Grand Prix 2023 Races
