2026–27 priorities
- Berkeley. Discourage the BCDC from permitting paid-parking at this park. Insist that the ferry project be judged on real use data, a costed in-marina alternative and a full fiscal accounting.
- Crown Beach. Get access designed into this winter's storm response. Secure permanent ramps and sand before April.
- Measure use. Build a replicable method for measuring recreational demand from anonymized mobility data, starting with Berkeley and Racetrack. Offer it to BCDC and to every subregional plan.
- Write recreation into the subregional plans. Propose access performance standards for Richmond, the East Bay Crescent, Alameda and Foster City: usable beach width, a usable tidal window, launch and landing space, and parking prioritized for recreation.
- Beaches over armor. Where protection is needed, favor sand nourishment and living shorelines. Insist that any armoring include designed access through it. Push for a regional sand budget that puts suitable Bay and channel sand on recreational beaches.
- New parkland. Encourage planners to design with regional, not site-specific, goals.
- Fund the work. Continue to fund and support site-improvement commitment. Find a public sponsor for 3rd Avenue. Continue to build the coalition of swimmers, paddlers, anglers and families with whom we share our beaches.
